Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend and will require traveling to Leeward CC’s Wai'anae Moku campus, the University of Hawai'i at West-Oahu (UHWO) and other UH campuses and sites.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under general supervision of Leeward CC’s Dean of Student Services, coordinate and manage all administrative aspects of the College’s AANAPISI Grant, which aspires to increase and improve mental health service provision at both Leeward CC and UHWO. This includes but is not limited to overseeing the design and implementation of grant activities; coordinating and managing all personnel, purchasing and other fiscal/budgetary matters, ensuring that the budget is managed properly and that all purchases comply with both University and grant rules and regulations.- Facilitate the collaboration between Leeward CC and UH West-Oahu. Engage stakeholders in the development of shared plans as well as in joint decision-making about how the campuses will work together via the grant.
- Work with the grant’s Principal Investigator and all other grant stakeholders to ensure that the College is fulfilling its commitments to the grant and that it is meeting all grant objectives and target outcomes in a timely fashion.
- Work in collaboration with the external evaluator to author all reports required by the grant. Author any reports required by the College and by the program itself. Develop and implement a method of collecting the data necessary for grant reporting as well as for program evaluation and improvement. Lead regular program evaluation and improvement efforts among the grant team.
- Handle all administrative, technical and logistical aspects of the grant and grant activities. Provide technical and administrative assistance to Leeward CC and UHWO teams as needed to implement program activities and fulfill grant objectives, which may include configuring and maintaining software programs (e.g., electronic charting programs, scheduling programs, etc.). Ensure that all necessary planning and implementation is done.
- Supervise student employees and/or interns as needed.
- Coordinate office space on the Leeward campus.
- Maintain confidentiality of all student, clinical, and administrative information.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Social Work (BSW), psychology, sociology, education, counseling, business or related field (e.g., marriage & family therapy, human services, public administration, family resources) and 3 years of progressive responsibilities for grant or program management; or equivalent education/training or experience.
- Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in grant or program coordination as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
- Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with grant or program coordination.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and word processing software.
- For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
- Experience in working with diverse student populations that include at-risk socio economically disadvantage, underrepresented, and/or non-traditional students.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Desirable Qualifications
- Possession of a Master’s degree in a behavioral health field (e.g,, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling/Guidance).
- Possession of a mental health license in the State of Hawaii (LSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, Board Certified Psychologist).
- Experience in developing and/or managing a mental health program or service.
- Experience in providing direct services and/or crisis response/management to at-risk populations, including but not limited to those experiencing depression, anxiety, gender/identity, substance abuse, suicidal ideation, post-traumatic stress disorder, domestic/dating violence, sexual assault or autism.
- Familiarity with mental health issues and services and the applicable laws present in an institution of higher education (eg. HIPAA, FERPA Title IX, Student Conduct Code, Campus SaVE act, Clery Act, ADA).
- Experience working with and facilitating an interdisciplinary team.
- Experience working at an institution of higher education.
- Experience working at a community college.
- Proficient in the use of technology, including but not limited to spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.
- Comfortable configuring web-based applications.
