We are looking for motivated Operators to join our team in our Amherst, NY location. Entry Operators are responsible for the productive & efficient operations of diversified equipment for the manufacture of product in an assigned department within production. The priority is to ensure the service and quality of products on the production floor, which covers a wide range of activities including manufacturing, inspection, and packaging.

Areas may include (but not limited to): wet mixing area & dryers, acid treat room, jet mill, continuous ball mill, kilns (nitride and stabilizing kilns), vacuum hot press, furnace room, roll crusher, coatings, and powder processing.

This position works 12 hour rotating shifts including weekends and holidays. Shifts and overtime are subject to change based upon business conditions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic computer skills required
  • HS Diploma/Equivalent is required
  • Good communication skills exhibiting ability to interact with co-workers, plant staff and management personnel
  • Basic math, reading, writing, and mechanical skills
  • Previous forklift truck certification preferred
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing work environment is preferred
  • Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle and move items weighing up to 60 pounds (with or without accommodations)
  • Ability to move throughout all areas of the plant floor, receiving, and outside perimeter of the facility including climbing stairs or working at heights
  • Able to wear all necessary personal protective equipment to perform job functions
  • Stand and/or sit continuously and perform job functions for a full shift with meal break
  • Visual acuity correctly to perform job functions

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS

  • Ability to accurately and efficiently read, understand and execute all work orders
  • Ability to operator a fork truck (once trained)
  • Ability to learn, and perform all duties required of the position
  • Ability to work unsupervised, efficiently, and safety
  • Ability to communicate effectively with shift personnel and support all manufacturing processes
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality standards, and techniques for optimal manufacture and/or distribution of product

  • Satisfactory attendance and performance
  • Demonstrated ability of cooperation, willingness to assist fellow employees in a team-based work environment
  • Satisfactory completion of training programs

  • Willingness to work overtime, at times on short notice
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail
