What you will do:
The People & Culture (P&C) division provides partnership to the business by putting employees first and supporting systems throughout the employee lifecycle. The Employee Services Specialist provides onsite P&C support to the Tillamook Plant, The Creamery, and Farm Store. This role will support tasks for their area of responsibility associated with P&C related programs such as employee onboarding, employee/labor relations, performance management, training, administration, and project work. The Specialist will also provide education on interpretation of policies, assist with organizational changes and conduct exit interviews. This role requires a high degree of empathy, desire to help people, motivation to solve problems, and the ability to exercise critical thinking.

Here’s a day in the life:

  • Administrative tasks daily/weekly entries into HRIS software including hires, terminations, job and payrate changes, leave status, and payroll corrections
  • Oversee the off-boarding process in conjunction with P&C peers including, preparation of termination paperwork, scheduling and conducting exit interviews, notification of final paycheck, audit and close employee files
  • Interact as a front-line source for day-to-day inquiries
  • Investigate employee concerns/issues and make recommendations of resolutions to the employee services manager/business partner
  • Work with leaders to administer attendance program and provide support in delivering associated progressive actions as appropriate
  • Maintain employee files
  • Ensure supervisor and employee adherence to policies
  • Ensure compliance with time and labor laws
  • Make recommendations to improve/innovate company policies to P&C management team
  • Support administration of the performance management system
  • Interpret and relay standard State and federal labor laws to employees
  • Exercise discretion when dealing with issues of a confidential nature
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy in documents
  • Work a flexible work schedule if an employee investigation or other project needs to be performed after normal business hours
  • Work with Talent Acquisition team regarding plant/Creamery recruiting and new hire onboarding including building orientation packets
  • Facilitate bi-weekly new hire orientation
  • Work with Employee Services Manager(s)/Business Partner to review and update onboarding and/or new hire orientation materials periodically
  • Conduct walkthrough of work areas, engaging with team members and being present in the workspace
  • Perform other job duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Associate degree required, Bachelor in HR/ILR or business-related preferred; or equivalent work experience
  • Relevant education OR HS diploma/GED with at least 3 years of experience in an HR Specialist or related role
  • Strong understanding of employment laws
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining confidential employment information
  • Microsoft SharePoint and Office Suite, HRIS software
  • Experience in manufacturing – preferred
  • Payroll and time-keeping experience is a bonus
  • SHRM-CP preferred but not required
