Delivery Driver Job at NCW Libraries
Position Summary:
Delivers library materials such as books, inter office mail, supplies, computer equipment, and furniture to and from branch libraries and NCRL’s Distribution Center. Works consistently within NCRL standards and policy directives and all applicable laws. Supports the library’s mission of “Connecting the people of North Central Washington to vital resources and opportunities that foster individual growth and strengthen communities".
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Deliveries
- Collects and loads daily shipments into truck in the order of stops/delivery locations.
- Drives the established/assigned route, delivering loads and picking up items for return to the Distribution Center.
- Provides inside delivery of all materials.
- Secures buildings upon departure and reports problems as appropriate.
- Is responsible for picking up revenue collected from branch libraries and delivering all revenue to the personnel in the front office.
- Unloads vehicle each evening.
Vehicle Maintenance
- Performs minor repairs to the vehicle, such as cleaning the interior, checking tire pressure, checking fluid levels, and keeping the gas tank filled.
- Inspects vehicle and reports any malfunctions or service requirements to the Associate Facilities Manager
- Must keep records such as mileage and gas receipts.
On-Call Duties
- Rotates on-call duties according to a prearranged schedule.
Communication
- Promotes and models courteous, respectful, and timely communication in all situations.
- Pursues transparency and openness whenever appropriate.
- Gives and welcomes constructive, respectful feedback while building a positive team spirit.
- Listens actively and well.
Professional Development
- Participates in appropriate trainings, conferences, workshops, and seminars.
- Stays abreast of library policies and procedures
An essential function of this position is consistent and punctual attendance.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Current WA State driver’s license. Must have a clean driving record with no moving violations
- Must be able to be insured by NCW Libraries to drive all library vehicles.
Knowledge of
- Computer skills are helpful and should have a working knowledge of NCW Libraries database software.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this position, the employee will need to have ability to handle all outside weather conditions and variable hazards.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Special Requirement:
- Valid driver’s license in the State of WA.
- Schedule hours may include early morning, evening, or other non-standard hours as required by the district.
Wage & Benefits:
Hours: Non-Exempt
Hours: Full-Time
Wage: Grade D, Step 1; $16.77
Placement is typically within the first half of the salary scale, but negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
