QCH’s Older Adult Services offer multi-faceted programming (5 senior centers, case management and HDML, NORC, Social Adult Day Care and Caregiver Support and Transportation Services) allowing seniors to age in place with dignity, while encouraging independence and engagement with the community. Our programs recognize that the older adult community represents a wide spectrum of the aging process, a spectrum of needs, strengths, and interests. Pomonok Older Adult Center serves older adults who reside in the Pomonok Houses and beyond. We are seeking a qualified Program Assistant (PA) with a strong commitment to social services and older adults to work at the Pomonok Older Center in Flushing, NY.

The Program Assistant will assist to oversee daily office duties, daily data entry, daily membership registration of participants and scanning program activities. They will facilitate the following tasks each day, general office duties, greeting participants and guests, answering phone calls, data entry into STARS/Peerplace/Selesforce, membership registration, classes/activities paperwork, meal set up and distribution.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Greet participants and guest and disperse information as requested.
  • Answer phones, compose and print flyers for activities, copying and faxing.
  • Manage registration of older adult participants for membership.
  • Manage scanning and/or manual entry of program activities/participant information daily.
  • Assist with set up/breakdown of meal space and meal distribution.
  • Facilitate wellness calls to older adult center participants and complete unit entries in STARS/PeerPlace.
  • Perform data entry and complete all daily program activity units in STARS/Peer Place.
  • Compile and match all daily activity logs accurately to units in STARS/Peer Place.
  • Submit monthly report of activity units from STARS/Peer Place and daily activity sheets.
  • Communicate/liaise with Database Manager as required in regard to participant files and program information.
  • Must meet and maintain the agency-wide performance standards of Queens Community House.
  • Attend Trainings as requested by your supervisors.
  • Cooperative development of annual training plan.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of office experience or related field.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and an ability to relate to the elderly with patience and flexibility is required.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and resourceful, able to work independently as well as collaboratively with staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook and database management/search tools.

Salary: $17 per hour
Schedule: less than 25 hours per week
