TITLE: STEAM Summer Camp Coach
LOCATIONS: 6800 Parkview Trail, Lithonia, GA 30058
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: 1099 Contractor
SALARY: $15 per hour
SCHEDULE: 9am-12pm, Monday-Thursday; June 12th-July 13th (5 weeks)

JOB SUMMARY: Artportunity Knocks, Inc. is seeking talented Camp Coaches to join our STEAM Summer Camp where you will be responsible for enthusiastically engaging K-5th grade campers by leading them through Art, STEM, Academic, and SEL (social-emotional learning) lessons, hands-on projects, games, and activities. This position will require you to work outside at times. If you are serious about youth enrichment and development, Artportunity Knocks is a perfect place to foster leadership.
Responsibilities for Camp Coaches
- Facilitate Artportunity Knocks-powered daily/weekly lesson plans and class routines for assigned student group
- Facilitate and encourage student participation in camp activities; capitalize on teachable moments
- Prepare and lead a variety of activities that are age-appropriate; Create a safe and fun experience for children
- Develop students’ enrichment and/or talents by creating fun and exploratory experiences which may include constructing a final project to be presented at the close of the camp
- Implement appropriate behavior and classroom management techniques adhering to Artportunity Knocks (AK) Handbook policies and procedures, in accordance with the school/site’s Student Handbook policy guidelines (training provided)
- Model good behavior for students relative to sportsmanship, manners, respect, and citizenship
- Work in a team environment; build and maintain a good working rapport with co-workers, campers, and parents
- Monitor and assist staggered schedules for mealtime activities, arrivals, dismissals
- Ensure assigned student group is always supervised and safe
- Perform all responsibilities in a manner that guarantees the safety of students
Qualifications for Camp Coaches
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) REQUIRED
- 2+ years of experience supervising and instructing children, preferably as a camp counselor or teacher REQUIRED
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and lead activities for large groups of children
- Proven ability to maintain a safe environment for others in adherence with provided protocol and standards
- Ability to pass a background check REQUIRED to work with children
- General mobility including, but not limited, to walking, running, bending, kneeling, and standing REQUIRED for camp activities
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Current Standard First Aid Certification/ Child & Adult CPR Certification preferred. A valid driver’s license with an available vehicle for work is required.
NOTES: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of lightweight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time walking, standing, and/or sitting at a keyboard or workstation.

- Mandatory Training & Orientation: 6/1, 6/2
- Work Days: Monday-Thursday, June 12th - July 13th

The selection process may include interviews, skills testing, performance evaluations, personality assessments, etc. A local background check is required.
