Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking Production Operators to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site (SRS).

The Production Operator will perform general process functions to support production operations at SRMC Liquid Waste facilities.
  • Work from standard and special procedures, training, shift logs, verbal turnover, and supervisory direction
  • Operate process controls and equipment such as forklifts, pumps, gang valves, samplers, and other equipment as needed to perform necessary functions (may require reaching and/or climbing a ladder for some valving operations). Operate and perform surveillance of auxiliary/support equipment.
  • Perform procedure walk downs (may require protective clothing and/or respiratory equipment).
  • Perform hazardous energy control lockouts per procedure (requires working in various parts of buildings)
  • Receive, handle, and ship solid waste material. Monitor process piping and equipment, inventory special solid waste materials in tanks and vault.
  • Maintain shift log and conducts turnovers
  • Communicate with managers, supervisors, operators and other support personnel to ensure safe, effective operations.
  • Alert to changes in facility conditions (radiological, environmental, chemical or potentially hazardous) and makes appropriate notifications.
  • Participate in event investigations.
  • Obtain and maintain all Grade 18 qualifications.
  • Must be physically able to evacuate a facility and/or area during an emergency.
  • Meet the physical requirements for the essential job duties, which may include being able to handle 50 pounds, climbing, bending, twisting, exposure to extreme temperatures, wearing protective clothing/equipment (including respiratory) and meeting Rad Con requirements.
  • Perform administrative functions such as completing process procedures, assembling and distributing daily morning reports, updating status boards, taking and documenting equipment readings, completing sample requests, using a copier, completing store orders, participating in procedure development, and other administrative duties as required.
  • Order, stock, handle, and maintain supplies and required PPE to perform facility activities.
  • May perform production process support functions such as; verifying and handling solid waste materials created during facility operating activities, valving, chemical tank make-ups, pull samples, decontaminate equipment and facilities, and replacing HEPA filters. Operate and monitors process instrumentation.
  • May be required to complete Advanced Rad Worker Training (ARWT) and perform task-specific RCI functions.
  • May be required to complete training to obtain I/M (Camera Crew) Operator qualification to support the structural integrity reporting requirements as directed by management.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to support the production program or as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in a technical or STEM related discipline from an accredited program
  • Must have Minimum of 4 Years’ Experience Performing Inspections with Specialized structural Integrity Inspection Equipment
  • Must be Qualified with Existing Wide-Angle Photography, Direct Photography, and CCTV Equipment
  • Must be able to Assemble, Operate and Perform Structural Integrity Inspections with variety of specialized Equipment with applicable procedures
  • Must be able to Obtain Rad Worker II Qualifications
  • Must be able to Obtain Respirator & Plastic Suit Qualifications
  • Must be able to work Day or Rotating Shift Schedules
