Spur, the K-12 substitute management and staffing partner of Griffin-Spalding County Schools, is looking for enthusiastic and approachable individuals to fill substitute Paraprofessional positions in the Griffin Spalding County Schools (GA). We are looking for candidates who have a passion for education and who strive to be an advocate for students. Position schedules will be based on the school's standard schedule. Candidates must be able to work on an on-call basis.

The ideal candidate will be able to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment, adhering to the guidelines and procedures set by the school and Spur. The primary responsibilities of this position are working alongside teachers and staff in their day-to-day activities with students. Candidates are expected to always represent the school and program in a positive and professional manner. Paraprofessionals can work in several capacities:

ISS - In school suspension

Instructional - provide teacher with basic assistance

Special Education Aide - assisting an exceptional education student

Pre K - assist teacher in the classroom

Media - assist in the Media room

DUTIES:

• Provide appropriate supervision for students to ensure safety and support
• Work closely with lead teacher / follow written and oral instruction
• Facilitate small group and one on one instruction
• Maintain confidentiality at all times
• Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
• Setting up basic technology equipment to support classroom instructions
• Able to work on on-call basis
• Perform related duties as assigned such as lunch duty, hall duty or toileting assistance
• The ability to lift heavy objects 50 lbs or more
• Performing other miscellaneous duties as assigned requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 21 years of age
• High School diploma or GED
• Pass Gemalto background check ($47.50)
• Ability to comply with written and/or oral instructions
• Proficiency in maintaining classroom management and maintain emotional control under stress

Preferred Qualifications:

• Coursework in the field of education

• Classroom experience and /or proven ability to work well with children
