Saint Simons By-The-Sea Hospital is seeking a PT Medical Records/HIM Clerk, who is responsible for assembly and analysis of discharge medical records. Maintains filing of medical records and assists HIM Director with Release of Information. Reviews records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with regulations. Compiles, processes, and maintains records in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the health care system. Maintains and operates a variety of health records indexes and storage retrieval systems to index, classify, store and analyze information. Assists the HIM Director in the training and supervising of interns and light duty staff.

Qualifications
Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software, typing, filing and record-keeping and record-coding skills, work organization, and prioritization, and time management skills.
- Familiar with general medical terminology needed with specific familiarity with psychiatric terminology helpful
- Experience with ICD-9-CM procedures and use of DSM-IV helpful
- General clerical and office procedure skills; business correspondence and communication skills; skills in proper use of office equipment; experience in psychiatric facility helpful.
