As a Laboratory Attendant, your primary responsibilities include collecting, cleaning, storage, and maintaining physical inventory for all glassware and supplies used in the Analytical and Microbiology Laboratory.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:

• Collects dirty glassware from designated station using a laboratory cart as transporting vehicle. Operates automatic dishwasher. Washes glassware using specified brushers. Uses an appropriate cleaning solution for glassware when necessary. Rinses all hand-washed glassware with distilled water and places in oven to dry. Rinses certain glassware with acetone to hasten drying. Inspects all glassware for damage and cleanliness. Transports clean, dry glassware to storage cabinets and places glassware in proper order.
• Inspects all glassware for damage and cleanliness. Checks all new glassware received for breakage and reports to Supervisor if any defects are found.
• Receives incoming laboratory supply, such as glassware and miscellaneous, and checks those supplies for correctness against Receiving Reports (Receiving Warehouse).
• Maintains inventory of glassware. Assists inventory of solvents and reagents used for analytical testing. Reports shortage of supplies to Supervisor. Supports archive of data file envelope to be delivered to retention room.
• Keeps own work area clean and orderly. Cooperates in carrying out other tasks requested by the Supervisor, (e.g., removal of items from under sink or storage cabinet to allow maintenance to be performed). Ensures that any waste generated as part of his/her responsibilities is handled in compliance with applicable environmental regulations and in accordance to establish SOP's for handling waste.
