Summary: This position is responsible to install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repairing automated packaging equipment and /or instrumentation and electrical control devices. This position must also include industrial electrical experience working with low to medium voltages. Rotating shift work is probable; rotating call-out coverage is required. The position will occasionally do its own design and layout work. S/he will possess a strong knowledge of the current National Electrical Code to properly install equipment assigned, to perform in a safe and workmanship-like manner. S/he will accept responsibility for the training, instruction, supervision, and safety of any classification or personnel assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: (Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time.)

Maintains, installs, calibrates, troubleshoot, and repairs automated packaging equipment both line feed side and control side/ or instrumentation and electrical control devices including Bagging equipment, wrapping equipment, stretch wrapping equipment, mag meters, density meters, valve positioners, differential pressure meters, and transmitters, PLC devices; processors, I/O, power supplies, weigh scales, nuclear scales, and load cell type, motor starters, and relay control devices and VFD’s. Able to utilize Logix 500, 5000, and Studio 5000 as a tool to troubleshoot automated equipment, Industrial electrical experience is a must familiar with the NEC and NFPA 70. Robotic experience is a plus.

  • Creates and makes recommendations for as-built drawings, basic schematics, and documentation of relevant work for future reference.
  • Leads and develops apprentice-level instrumentation technicians, as required.
  • Enters work orders into the E-1 CMM system.
  • This position works to comply with all CMP Instrumentation Program Standards.
  • Responds to emergent work as necessary to create a balance in achieving site priorities.
  • Maintains high standards for completing all required documents.
  • Adheres to established EH&S performance standards.

Education and Experience: Certification in Industrial Electrical Automation maintenance or Instrumentation, must meet the requirements for the Utah apprenticeship/Journeymen’s certification program and or a minimum of 5-years’ experience in instrumentation or electrical programs. Must have excellent team-playing skills. Must have an in-depth knowledge of instrumentation in a heavy industrial facility. Experience in leadership will be viewed as an added factor in the selection process.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be fully computer proficient and possess the ability and willingness to quickly master skills required to function with company software, systems, and technology.
