EXPERIENCED EQUIPMENT OPERATOR FOR UNDERWOOD SITE EXCAVATION

JOB DESCRIPTION

Equipment Used: Dozer, Excavator, and other equipment

Must have 5 years experience with grading on 700L Dozer (or similar) and 336 Excavator (or similar). GPS/Top Con experience required. Must operate equipment efficiently while keeping job moving. Also must be willing to operate more than one piece of equipment, including 6x6 trucks, compactor, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must have at least 5 years experience as heavy equipment operator using equipment such as 700L Dozer and 336 Excavator with GPS/Top Con
  • Must be able to grade to specs
  • Must use equipment as listed above efficiently and expertly
  • Must be able to communicate and work with other employees as well as other pieces of equipment
  • Learn and follow safety regulations
  • Take actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers
  • Be aware of unlevel ground, ditches, etc. and take action to avoid slipping and falling
  • Monitor operations and your area to ensure that health and safety standards are met
  • Locate underground services, such as pipes or wires, prior to beginning work
  • Assist construction site workers in preparing site for grade
  • Unload and Load construction materials manually or by machine
  • Distribute materials
  • Locate and set silt fence perimeter
  • Erect silt fence material
  • Set up utility area with material
  • May use shovels, trowels and other small tools to dig areas and level concrete and earth
  • Remove debris
  • Secure special attachments to equipment
  • Signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance
  • Oil and grease equipment as requested
  • Clean up areas as needed
  • Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous job production with minimal down time, minimal wasted materials while having a high-quality output
  • Assist construction site workers in preparing site for utilities; including setting up utility site with location of underground services, such as pipes or wires, prior to beginning work
  • Maintains equipment appearance by cleaning and washing outside as needed/possible
  • Maintains equipment interior by cleaning trash inside daily

REQUIREMENTS:

  • GPS/TopCon experience REQUIRED
  • Must be able to read and understand grade stakes
  • Follow safety regulations
  • Conduct daily safety assignments (area inspections, equipment inspections)
  • Follow instructions and meet set standards
  • Drive/operate diesel or gasoline powered straight and/or articulated, rubber tired and/or track mounted, blade or broom which is used in various processes in the construction, repair and maintenance of leveling of earth, aggregates, asphalt and concrete
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment, lubricating, fueling and cleaning
  • Start engine, shift gears, presses pedals and move levers to drive vehicles
  • Judge distances and slopes accurately
  • Make decisions based on verifiable standards
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, and crouch and use hands, arms, and legs fully
  • Must have good vision and hearing (either naturally or with correction)
  • Frequently lift up to 80 pounds, and the ability to carry objects weighing 50 pounds or less
  • Work dusty or dirty surroundings
  • Other job duties as assigned
  • Must be able to travel and work away from home. Home base is Sulphur Springs, TX. Monday-Friday work week; occasional weekend needed.
  • Hotel and Per Diem Paid For Approved Traveling Job Sites/Contracts. Hotel provided for employee only.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
