Environmental Permit & Compliance Specialist Job at Generate Upcycle
Generate Upcycle is looking for a Regional Compliance Coordinator to join our growing team! The Environmental Compliance Coordinator ensures our business adheres to environmental protection regulations and performs necessary reporting related to the permits/ECA’s and requirements in Canada and the USA. Operations include but are not limited to anaerobic digestion, wastewater treatment and composting. This position ensures the company is compliant and works closely with the Operations and Development teams, and will assist in preparing us to meet future compliance needs as we grow.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Managing environmental permits and reporting for all assigned sites.
- Assist with obtaining new permits and review permits for new sites and acquisitions.
- Research and understand state/provincial, federal, and local rules related to operations.
- Prepare annual, quarterly, and monthly report as required internally and for submission to government entities.
- Initiate and perform inspections at all sites including records and site conditions and prepare reports on each.
- Improve/develop procedures that support compliance at each site.
- Track progress and corrective actions with each site.
- Work with sites and EHS team and perform other duties and functions as assigned.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or similar field required
- Minimum of three (3) years environmental permitting and/or compliance experience required
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements
- Experience with USA and Canadian Regulations preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent computer skills, proficiency in Office Suite (primarily MS Outlook, Excel and Word)
- Excellent attention to detail and follow up skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent data management skills
- Strong process-improvement, organization, and project management skills
- Independent thinker, ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
- Creative problem-solver and troubleshooter
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must walk on uneven terrains on high and low temperatures days.
Work Environment
- Positions functions in several different environments which includes a professional office and field environment.
- Travel required, 50-75%

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
