About the Position:
The Educational Coordinator for the California Violence Intervention & Prevention Project (CalVIP) is responsible for providing direct services and supports for project participants. Educational Coordinators provide active advocacy, wrap-around services, and relational credibility to participants with former criminal-justice involvement who are pursuing education-to-employment pathways.
What You Will Do:
- Coordinates intake, eligibility, and aptitude/interest assessment of prospective CalVIP participants.
- Provide trauma-informed, participant-centered case management of CalVIP participants.
- Guides participants through all available services including vocational training, work readiness training, advocacy, and sourcing for needed services
- Develops relationships with potential employer organizations within the Los Angeles community that may hire certified AmityWorks students and graduates.
- Collaboratively constructs personal development plans identifying needed additional resources and making appropriate referrals.
- Responds positively to changing demands and priorities, recognizing the scope of authority and decision-making processes within a team-oriented framework.
- Document all progress and services provided in the case files, including relevant employment data;
- Maintain collaborative relationships with Project Director, BSCC liaisons, education and employer partners;
- Demonstrates cultural competency, community advocacy, and professionalism in representing the Amity Foundation and its projects to the community.
- Additional duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences OR possess a high school diploma or its equivalent AND two (2) years of experience as a job developer or similar position.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a job development or similar role.
- Lived experience with incarceration, addiction, poverty, foster care, or other systems involvement
- Basic knowledge and experience with the criminal record expungement process.
- Demonstrate proper attitudes and techniques towards faculty and program participants, and model professional, effective work habits and responsible living.
