We are looking for someone who is passionate about working in community services and has a great rapport with youths, and is committed to making a positive impact in their lives.

The Driver is responsible for transporting youth from their home to the program site. The Driver will operate a 14-passenger van and follow all safety procedures. The Driver will notify the Supervisor of any vehicle issues and complete incident reports for any incident that occurs with the vehicle or with the youth in the vehicle. When not driving the vehicle, the Driver will provide program support while youth are in program. The Driver will have the opportunity to be involved in youth activities and assist program staff with the development of positive youth activities on the program. The driver will be expected to display a manner that is professional and respectful around contact with youth.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Capacity and patience to interact with 10 to 19 years old youth professionally.

• Drive a 14-passenger vehicle in a safe manner, picking up youth at schools or home, and dropping them off at home.

• Knowledge of Philadelphia routes-streets, particularly the 19133, 19122, 19134, 19140, 19124, 19120 areas.

• Skill in establishing the best route to complete transportation in a safe and timely manner.

• Assist in site-based program when off driving duty, including staying inside classrooms to support.

• Maintain vehicle clean and perform regular checkups, taking it to dealer, mechanic as needed.

• Must have attention to detail and possess the ability to recognize and report any unsafe act or condition.

• Capable of understanding and following through on oral and written instructions.

• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

• Assist at the Teen Center during the after-school program; assist with safety & security.

• Work in NSCA community events, quarterly strategic meetings as required.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of a High School Diploma
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact with individuals of different racial, cultural, educational, and economic backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and in collaborative environment.
• Bilingual in Spanish (Preferred)
• Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
• Ability to drive 12 passenger van
• Knowledge of Septa routes and Philadelphia Street Routes (19133, 19122, 19134, 19140, 19124, 19120 areas).
• Familiarity with the Norris Square Community and its service providers a plus.
• Ability to secure clearances such as FBI, Child Abuse, NSOR and Criminal Background.

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 4 hour shift
• Evening shift
