Job Details:
- Must have Manufacturing Cost Accounting experience
- The Manufacturing Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and updating all aspects of the cost accounting system. Using Oracle, it is a plus if you have this experience.
- This role will be heavily involved with the operation’s team ensuring accurate and up-to-date inventory valuation and is accountable for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities.
- The ideal candidate is meticulously organized, proactive, and has a comprehensive understanding of accounting processes and procedures. The position will be heavily involved in the month-end close process. Experience in manufacturing is required.
Responsibilities:
- A/P and A/R
- Working with production
- Perform month-end close activities related to Cost Accounting- Journal entries, variance analysis, reconciliations, calculating metrics, and ad hoc reporting
- Become a trusted adviser and provide the support that will assist in decision-making to the operations team.
- Analyze costs of raw materials and other supplies and create cost-benefit analyses for changing vendors.
- Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs.
- Analyzes actual production costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
- Reconcile perpetual inventory to GL - Ensure that inventory counts are taking place and are accurate; investigate in conjunction with Operation’s group any variances that appear.
- Conduct inventory reserve analysis on a quarterly basis and generate reports for senior management
- Establish standard costs and update them as appropriate- Set up new raw material, packaging, WIP, and FG items; create and maintain production BOMs; maintain periodic cost rolls/updates.
- Maintain work paper documentation that provides an effective audit trail and evidence of compliance with USGAAP and Sarbanes/Oxley.
- Work with internal and external auditors when required- Assist in developing and documenting policies and procedures, including system requirements and internal controls.
- Maintain and improve processes and controls associated with manufacturing costs and inventory valuation.
- Represent Finance/Accounting on teams designed to improve operations, reduce costs, etc.
Required:
- Minimum BA/BS in Finance/Accounting/ Economics
- Minimum 3 plus years experience cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to organize workload and manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Team player with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated respect for the culture of ethics and compliance.
- Command of Excel, Access, and other Microsoft Office products.
- Current experience with Oracle and Hyperion is preferred but not required.
