JOB SUMMARY:
The Bronx District Attorney's Office is seeking a well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds contribute to serve the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The Child Abuse/Sex Crimes Bureau has an opening for a Court Clerk. The Court Clerk provides administrative support for the bureau in the courtroom while interacting with Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs), Judges, and court staff. The court clerk will also be responsible to assist ADAs and TPAs to meet discovery obligation timelines in a timely manner.

The Court Clerk provides administrative support for the bureau in the courtroom while interacting with Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs), Judges, and court staff. The court clerk will also be responsible to assist ADAs and TPAs to meet discovery obligation timelines in a timely manner.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide courtroom assistance to ADAs and perform tasks as needed.
- Transport sorted file folders from courtroom to office and distribute them to the appropriate locations
- Prepare next day's court calendar for the ADAs and for courtroom use.
- Prepare and update both electronic and handwritten Orders of Protection.
- Prepare and mail letters and Orders of Protection to witnesses.
- Cover reception duties and the Administrative Supervisor's desk as needed.
- Act as liaison to the courtroom clerks.
- Discovery Liaison:
- Work with ADAs and TPAs to retrieve and organize discovery.
- Subpoena and gather discovery for ADAs' cases including, but not limited to, medical records from local hospitals, autopsy reports, surveillance from various locations; retrieve property/evidence from NYPD Property Clerk and return at the conclusion of case.
- Assist with other bureau tasks and perform all other duties as assigned
- All other duties as assigned.
- Associate's degree preferred or a High School diploma/GED and a minimum of two (2) years working experience in a law firm, governmental agency, civic or community organization
- Basic computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to take initiative to implement systems to ensure that work is done both accurately and efficiently
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with court staff and judges
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong desire and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
