Our fast-paced, growing medical group and affiliated outpatient surgery center is searching for an experienced certified professional coder (CPC) to join our dynamic team. Our CPC’s are responsible for reviewing codes submitted by physicians/providers to assure accurate assignment for inpatient/outpatient professional charges submitted via encounters, the EHR, and/or reports. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, organized, able to self-supervise and handle complex coding and auditing of records.

Responsibilities include:

· Applies CPT-4, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS and modifiers following coding guidelines.

· Codes all documented professional services and submits for billing.

· Ensures coded services, provider charges and medical record documentation meet appropriate guidelines and standards.

· Keeps abreast of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements.

· Provides physicians/providers routine feedback on documentation and compliance standards

· Queries physicians/providers when code assignments are not straightforward or documentation in the record is inadequate, ambiguous, or unclear for coding purposes.

· Utilizes appropriate methods to ensure all documented professional services are submitted timely.

· Utilizes correct coding practices to file clean claims aiding in improved cash flow.

· Initiates appropriate action to decrease controllable write-offs and charge lag

· Maintains compliance with Federal, State and payer regulations.

· Works closely with departments to optimize reimbursement, ensure charge capture, reduce late charges and provide feedback to providers.

· Performs the duties and tasks associated with auditing patient records.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 1 year medical coding experience preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years medical billing experience required
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
  • Strong communication skills
  • Computer proficiency and prior experience with EMR highly preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently and meet deadlines

Hours are M-F with an opportunity to work either four 10 hour days or five 8 hour days.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $26.00 per hour
