The Department of Film, Video, Animation and New Genres at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has consistently earned recognition as one of Hollywood Reporter’s “Top 20 Film Programs in the World” and Variety’s “Best Film Schools” because of the program’s deep commitment to transforming students into expressive filmmakers with a mastery of creative, conceptual, and technical skills. Our faculty are artists, filmmakers, and professionals who actively screen at festivals and exhibition spaces from the Sundance Film Festival to the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.

The Peck School of the Arts offers twenty undergraduate and graduate degree programs serving more than 2,100 student majors, making it one of the largest and most comprehensive arts schools in the region. The Peck School is a vital home for the arts, presenting more than 350 events each year.

The Department of Film, Video, Animation and New Genres is seeking Associate Lecturers/Lecturers to begin teaching Fall 2021 semesters and beyond. The 15-week courses could include the areas of Directing; Director of Photography (Cinematography / Videography); Screenwriting; Animation (Stop Motion, 3-D, Storyboarding, Puppetry, Character Design); Digital Video Editing; After Effects / Visual Effects; Critical Film Analysis / Film Theory; Sound Recording / Sound Design / Sound Editing; and Foundation / First-Year Program (general).

General responsibilities above and beyond the instruction of courses will include, but are not limited to: working collaboratively with departmental staff and faculty to maintain a vital curriculum; foster a sense of community and students’ individual development; and actively participate in departmental activities.

Teaching load and specific courses will vary based on program needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates must possess:

  • Bachelor degree (degree must be granted by date of hire)
Preferred Qualifications
Highly qualified candidates may also possess:

  • Master of Fine Art (MFA) degree

  • Teaching experience

  • Professional and/or demonstrable artistic experience in areas of expertise

Further qualifications may be reviewed based on specific instructional needs for each upcoming term.
