This position supports the work of the YMCA of Wichita Falls, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Associate Executive Director at Downtown YMCA stewards the Y’s cause, promoting and protecting the brand and reputation as an inclusive organization within the community. The Associate Executive Director oversees the branch operation and participates in volunteer and staff development, financial development, and collaboration with community stakeholders. They actively sit on our leadership team while participating in association quality teams with an open, honest, and respectful voice.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in human services, recreation, business or a related field,
or equivalent, preferred.

YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team Leader certification preferred.

Five or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.

Ability to direct assigned operations including volunteer development, supervision
of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations,
and program development.

Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.

Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.

CPR and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.

Essential Functions
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops and directs diverse staff and volunteers. Holds others accountable for equitable staff hiring, promotion, and development. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Guides others on how to strengthen knowledge, skills, and competencies that improve organizational performance.
  • Manages the budgeting process so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives. Ensures operating budgets meet or exceed targets. Recommends adjustments to the budget to assure a balanced operation and submits reports on current operations.
  • Ensures the operational growth of the YMCA through program expansion, member recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, and collaborations.
  • Develops and directs high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support branch and association goals and strategies. Establishes plans for the expansion of programs and services, in harmony with overall YMCA objectives and the senior leadership team.
  • Builds bridges within the community so that all segments of society have access to the Y.
  • Effectively communicates community benefit and the Y’s impact for all stakeholders (e.g., staff, volunteers, members, community leaders) develops positive working and collaborative relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
  • Works directly with Building Maintenance department to lead facility/property maintenance, repair and overall upkeep for the association to meet the needs of current and potential members and the Y's safety, service, and security objectives.
  • Support annual campaign efforts by participating and leading annual campaign asks, outreach, and support.
  • Assists with branch advisory board and supports any volunteer partnerships within the community.
  • Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs and leads branch staff in the planning, development and implementation of new program initiatives and activities.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
