Position Summary
Under the general direction of the VP of Operations, the Area Construction Manager gives overall direction to the construction and construction support process within Rausch Coleman Homes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Reports directly to the VP of Operations
- Attend weekly construction meetings and as needed to keep homes on budget and on time
- Instruct, train and work with Field Managers to assure compliance with proper and approved methods of construction and operating procedures
- Ability to read, understand and explain construction blueprints and floorplans
- Promote a customer centric attitude and experience to help achieve AVID approval rating of 90% or better
- Responsible for working with Customer Service Representative to ensure quick resolution to all claims
- Assist DCM in conducting QA Acceptance walks to ensure Rausch Coleman Homes quality standards are being met
- Understands the basic materials and methods used by trade partners and assures compliance with company construction standards
- Responsible for weekly auditing of ITK schedules to ensure their accuracy
- Manage production departments trade base to alleviate bottlenecks in schedules
- Fill in for Field Managers in their absence, as needed
- Additional duties as required
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience of construction management with preference given to residential homebuilding
- Ability to evaluate alternative methods of construction in terms of cost efficiency
- Excellent organization skills and possess the ability to multi-task
- Ability to use a computer to submit weekly and daily reports and/or status updates
- Self-motivated and the ability to solve problems effectively
- Be professional in dress, manners and conduct
- Knowledge of construction safety practices
- Ability to read, interpret and resolve inconsistencies and problems in construction plans and specifications
- Determine alternative work assignments (scheduling) during inclement weather and/or when a schedule change is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in customer service position
- Proficient knowledge of ITK scheduling software
Physical Demands
- Lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently and frequently moving small objects
- Frequently sitting/walking for long periods of time
- This position works indoors and outdoors frequently
- Must have manual use of hands and vision to use computer constantly
