Summary of Position
The Admissions Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director of Admissions. This position will support the admissions office to implement the law school’s admissions strategy to ensure a student body that comports with the institution’s mission and goals. This position will require strong organizational skills, the capacity to perform various office and administrative tasks related to the admissions program, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
The Admissions Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director of Admissions. This position will work to develop and implement the law school’s admissions strategy to ensure a student body that comports with the institution’s mission and goals. This position will require thorough understanding of the school’s strategic priorities as related to student recruitment and retention, including excellent interpersonal and communication skills. It will also require strong organizational skills and the capacity to perform various office and administrative tasks related to the admissions program.
- Serve as a member of the admissions team focused on attracting a highly qualified and diverse student body to assure continued academic excellence at Elon Law and the enrichment of the legal profession.
- Collect and analyze data for the creation of admission reports related to recruitment, trends in admission, travel, special programs, and professional development.
- Provide support to the assistant director and recruiters pertaining to recruitment activities: prepare travel arrangements, gather and distribute recruitment materials, submit event registrations, etc.
- Attend recruiting events on behalf of the law school as part of a team of recruiters attending events in the fall and winter (some travel may be required).
Process admissions applications, including performing the initial review of applications and noting positive and negative attributes beyond the LSAT and GPA, including character and fitness concerns, to be considered in deciding whether to invite applicants for interviews
- Create and distribute decision letters/emails. Responsible for technical and administrative aspects of mailings.
- Maintain integrity of data in the database and organization of the paper files.
- Answer high volume of phone calls, emails, and drop-in inquiries. Provide accurate information regarding the programs at Elon Law, admissions and financial aid procedures.
- Manage electronic data transfer process with the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC), as well as the transfer process from LSAC’s ACES admissions software to the University’s Colleague database. Troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Process incoming mail. Receive, sort, process, and distribute highly confidential documents.
- Process and track application fees and incoming law student tuition deposits.
- Maintain office supplies and anticipate future needs.
- Counsel prospective students and recruit admitted students during all phases of the admissions cycle whether by phone, email, or in-person visits at the law school.
- Coordinate various admissions events, including but not limited to, Open Houses, Admitted Students Days, and Fellows Weekends/Interview Days.
Supervise the student ambassadors and train them to conduct tours, respond to prospective students’ emails and answer questions about Elon Law..
Handle various communications with prospective applicants, including conducting LSAC CRS searches and preparing emails to prospects and lists for mailing information to prospects.
Update admissions website and/or work with Director of Communications to keep admissions web site information up-to-date.
Assist with developing additional content for web site and social media to market the law school’s distinctive program of legal education.
- Manage office calendar regarding visits, interviews, meetings, events, etc.
- Manage the admissions interview process, including maintaining Acuity Scheduling system, working with faculty to set interview schedules each term, scheduling interviews and communicating with Admissions Committee members and prospective students as necessary.
- Coordinate and host admission presentations to visitors during campus daily tours and at on campus and off-campus events.
- Process office financial and purchasing documents, including performing processing check requests, credit card reconciliation, collecting receipts, etc. Assist the assistant director to monitor expenditures in light of budget.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
