ACCOUNTS PAYABLE SPECIALIST

ABOUT THE POSITION AND OUR TEAM:
As a Finance Associate – Accounts Payable you will provide financial, administrative, and clerical support by ensuring payments are completed and expenses are controlled by receiving payments, processing, verifying and reconciling invoices according to established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely and accurate manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review all invoices and check requests for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
- Enter invoices for payment making sure to attach supporting documents and invoices to the transaction.
- Ensure all transactions are coded to the proper G/L account.
- Process expense reports, verifying proper approval and policy adherence.
- Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments (ACH’s, wires).
- Print checks, submit them for a review then distribute them accordingly.
- Post transactions to journals, ledgers, and other records.
- Reconcile credit card statements.
- Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date.
- Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues.
- Maintain vendor files.
- W9 maintenance and 1099 generation.
- Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries.
- Produce monthly and weekly reports, as needed.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Monitor and order checks as needed.
- Record and submit sales tax payable.
- Keep up-to-date SOP’s on position General Support Functions.
- Alternate preparing L-10 documents.
- Liaise with other departments/customers/vendors.
- Job responsibilities and any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and support our organization’s values
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- A high school diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree preferred.
- Knowledge of general accounting procedures.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products

This is a full-time position. This position has hybrid work hours at our Emerald Isle, NC office.
