SUMMARY

Welcome to Palm Springs Aerial Tramway! We are seeking a part-time Ticket Agent to become an integral part of our team. The position is a minimum of a 24-30hour per week position. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, be team-oriented, detailed, and able to work with minimal supervision. Cash handling and computer experience are required for this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Process ticket transactions by accepting cash, credit cards, and company checks, and arranged credit accounts.

· Provides all aspects of customer service including, but not limited to, greeting customers, answering customer questions, helping customers with special needs, and informing customers of weather reports.

· Responsible for individual cash box, including keeping proper cash amounts required for day-to-day sales, balancing after each shift, making deposits after each shift, and recording reasons for over/shorts to accounting and/or Ticket Systems Administrator.

· Uses a ticket machine that automatically prints and ejects the number of tickets requested by the customer and hands ticket(s) to the customer.

· Operates turnstile, controlling access to the boarding room by scanning tickets and clearing the boarding room. Performs minor ticket and turnstile system troubleshooting.

· Assists supervisors with coordinating tram car scheduling.

· Communicates special needs relating to group sales and other reservations to the supervisor on duty as needed.

· Remains current on issues relating to special events, promotions, advertisements, activities, and all pertinent operations information that may impact the ticket booth.

· Makes public address announcements to communicate tram car departure times and instructions to customers.

· Assists customers in completing lost & found slips as requested.

· Maintains stock of ticketing supplies and promotional materials and restocks as needed. Maintains a neat work area free of debris and clutter.

· Proficient in all computer functions and codes for various types of tickets and ticket transactions. Proficient in all aspects of on or off-line credit card procedures, ticket sales, and turnstile operations.

· Proficient in performing all the Ticketing and Turnstile systems – BOS point of sale.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent; two years related cash handling and customer service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Internet software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Point-of-Sales systems.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safety warnings and directions in English. Bi-lingual is preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with customers from varying backgrounds and communities.

Work is performed primarily in the public eye, in a standard cashier/sales environment, indoors, with extensive public contact and frequent interruptions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment is fast-paced, with large crowds frequently.
