Responsibilities

Job Summary:

An incumbent performs much the same work as other Endoscopy Technicians, participating in the day-to-day operations of the work unit, with “lead” work comprised primarily of: 1) serving as the point-person for staff as relates to GI instrument activities; 2) monitoring work and individual staff performance for adherence to established policies/standards; and 3) ordering/inventorying new/replacement instrumentation.

Lead Essential Functions:
  • Monitors work activities to ensure adherence to, and compliance with, establish policies, standards and procedures; assists employees with complex/unprecedented/ambiguous matters, reviews elevated issues/situations and takes action consistent with assigned scope of authority; refers issues beyond scope of responsibility to higher-level authority in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Receives notification from employees who are scheduled for planned time off or are unable to report to work for assigned shift (e.g. sick, FMLA, etc.); reviews schedule to determine whether a staffing shortfall will be created and makes arrangements to fill specific needs.
  • Monitors individual staff performance and provides feedback to higher-level authority; coaches employees on established policies/standards/procedures and provides guidance with specific assignments/tasks; may provide input into formal employee performance evaluations.
  • May assist in implementing new instrumentation or processes; explains new and/or revised procedures, forms or other tools to staff; may demonstrate new systems, PC applications, equipment or supplies.
  • Reviews clinical competencies of all Equipment Techs. Provides guidance, training and new hire orientation to Tech’s, as required. Participates in departmental meetings, as requested.
  • Provides assistance to manager and nursing team on matters related to survey readiness; ensures all files/records are complete and orderly and Endoscopy Techs are adhering to established procedures.
  • Orders all supplies on a regional basis for the GI Lab department and replacement instruments from vendor sales representatives; ensures that rotation of supplies and equipment to assure no outdates occur.
  • Maintains a database of all scope repairs and meets with manager regularly to review scope cleaning issues.
  • Regularly prepares reports for manager’s review related to high level disinfection and other matters.

Qualifications

Education/Work Experience:

Two years of directly-related work experience as Endoscopy Tech (or equivalent) within the last three years, OR any combination of related experience or education that would demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Licensure/Certification:

Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) by the Washington State Nursing Commission or equivalent.

Pay Range

$20.47 - $28.71 /hour
