Summary

The Technical Account Specialist is a specialized and critical position accountable for contributing to HarbisonWalker Internationals overall business performance by utilizing their technical expertise and detailed application knowledge in refractories to support sales activities in the execution of transactional customer requests. This role manages the customer relationship and is the primary point of contact for handling inquiries from transactional segment customers (new and existing) as well as inquiries from customers of other segments that are transactional in nature.

Job Duties

Managing transactional customer relationships:
Answering and responding to inquiries via the technical marketing hotline, email box, or forwarded from other team members

Facilitating simple quoting process

Facilitating basic technical marketing and sales support

Utilizing HWI systems and dashboards for information gathering and communication

Utilizing the CRM tool as the repository for maintaining customer interactions and information

Inquiring on order status as necessary and providing order status updates to the customers

Performing periodic calls and/or visits to customer locations to support sales efforts

Submitting and following up on TSR and CFB

Acting as an inside sale’s person to routinely follow-up on quotations and perform a level of cold calling of new and existing customers

Collaborating with the HWI sales and demand planning teams and customers on the forecasting process

Collaborating with the HWI sales and supply planning teams to make forecast based adjustments on the re-order point (ROP) levers for make-to-stock items

Collaborating with HWI supply planning and plant scheduling personnel on material availability, lead-times, order status, and expediting requests

Qualifications

Requires B.S. degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology or related fields, or equivalent practical field experience

Requires fundamental refractory technology knowledge as well as basic customer application

Requires computer operation skills including, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Oracle ERP

Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment

Excellent organization skills with accurate and precise attention to detail

Ability to multitask, prioritize and work independently

Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional manner

The Technical Account Specialist requires four plus (4+) years of sales or technical marketing experience. Experience in additional fields may be considered with appropriate competency and skills.
