Sybase DBA Job at Purple Drive Technologies
Technical/Functional Skills:
- Provide server administration with a variety of database products that include SYBASE SA
- Supports the development and sustainment of SYBASE databases, including database upgrades, performance tuning, database backup, database restore, and database replication, and develop plans and procedures to support those activities.
Core Sybase skills:
- Knowledge of SQL Server 2008 through to 2016.
- knowledge of SQL BI.
- knowledge of Sybase ASE 15 through to 16
- knowledge of Sybase Replication Server 15.2 and 15.7.
Plus skills in at least one of the following:
- Knowledge of Sybase MDA tables
Knowledge of Sybase replication server
- Tests database performance and functionality in response to required upgrades to operating systems and web browsers.
- Experience with all aspects of database administration including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, migration, capacity planning, performance tuning, query optimization, backup and recovery.
- Experience hardening of databases according to DISA Secure Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs).
- Ability to develop scripts to automate routine jobs; Update or replace existing database installation scripts.
- Proficient with network troubleshooting tools and techniques.
- Tune database for optimal performance.
- Assist with failover activities for both the low and high side.
- Experience with change management including maintenance of multiple development, test, QA, and production environments.
- Able to support proactive database monitoring and issue resolution.
- Able to support implementation of application software releases and other related activities.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned
- May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals
- May serve as a team or task lead
