POSITION SUMMARY:

• The Permanent Substitute Teacher works to create an encouraging learning environment for students while their regular teacher is absent. The permanent substitute teacher will need to effectively manage and instruct the class during the school day.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of state standards.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
• Manages the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct.
• Be responsible for involvement as a contributing member involving group decision-making and the development of a positive, cooperative building environment.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have or be able to obtain a valid Arizona Substitute Teaching Certificate.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma.
