Job Purpose
Dana Incorporated is seeking to fill the position of a Wiring Harness Engineer- Packaging on our electric commercial vehicle integration strategy team at our Novi Tech Center. The Wiring Harness Engineer- Packaging will help define detailed specifications and requirements for various low and high voltage components contained within a commercial vehicle.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
From the specifications, requirements, and knowledge of the vehicle system, you will help design the electrical and electronic distribution wiring. You will work with other teams to design and develop the interface to the vehicle which will communicate with our internal systems. You will grow your knowledge of wire harness design, manufacturing, and vehicle assembly to design a connection strategy within the Dana systems.
Understanding of Electronic/Electrical Vehicle Architectures for conventional and BEV vehicles.
Support the development of the complete proof of concept, RFI, RFQ through production manufacturing.
Conduct packaging of electronic sub-system, components, and wire harnesses into customer chassis.
Perform assessments on harness packaging quality and incorporate changes as needed to achieve a high quality and robust design.
Select and support the selection of electronic components and validation of specifications according to vehicle requirements.
Grow your working knowledge and experience of all FMEA principals (design/component/system/process FMEA).
Support customer program PDS, BOM, DFMEA, DVP, ED&T, and support RFQ response.
Facilitate internal communications between Engineering, Sales, Quality, Manufacturing and Assembly.
Provide hands-on support of special vehicle builds as well as coordination of special orders.
Attend, facilitate, host customer engineering meetings, and help bring open issues to closure.
Support Advanced Program Quality Planning and Design Review activities.
Provide BEV expertise in support of the customer requirements.
Implement cost savings and assembly process improvement activities.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Four-year degree in Electrical (Electro-Mechanical) Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required.
2+ years of experience in automotive or commercial vehicle industry in engineering.
Basic CAD (NX, CATIA, or similar) and Wiring Schematic Software (EPlan, Mentor Graphics, or similar) skills.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Be both strategic and hands on; excellent analytical skills with structured problem-solving abilities.
Ability to be proactive, think forward and able to make decisions independently with appropriate level of consultation/communication.
Must be a self-directed and motivated individual who is willing to accept responsibility.
Strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written, at all levels.
Commitment to the highest standards of ethical behavior in self and others; commitment to inclusion and diversity.
Strong organizational skills and able to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (10% of travel).
Proficient technical skills Microsoft Office; PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project.
Experience in drivetrain/powertrain/chassis engineering or related field is a plus.
Experience with battery electric vehicles and/or components a plus.
