What are the major job responsibilities?
The Speech and Language Pathologist works directly with students to assess and provide appropriate support services.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Collaborate with staff in planning educational intervention, curriculum, and teaching strategies to best meet the needs of students.
· Schedule interventions using a variety of service delivery models, including classroom intervention, consultation/collaboration and pull-out as appropriate to meet student needs in the least restrictive environment.
· Meet with related school personnel to coordinate specific objectives for individualized educational programs.
· Apply a systematic workload model to facilitate the organization of the speech-language program within the school.
· Maintain records of the speech-language program and prepares periodic reports as required.
· Perform systematic direct observation of pupils.
· Conduct speech, language and hearing screenings.
· Serve on student intervention team/Individualized Education Program (IEP) team as appropriate.
· Work with other professionals to carry out the screening process.
· Use appropriate screening instruments.
· Obtain pertinent case history.
· Obtain data from other professionals and parents.
· Integrate data from a variety of assessment techniques and sources.
· Determine the effects of the student’s impairment in regard to accessing the general curriculum.
· Present and explain data to IEP Team.
· Prepare evaluation summary.
· Use systematic procedures for review of student progress.
· Change activities on basis of student progress.
· Collaborate in program planning and evaluation services for decision-making purposes.
· Provide a written report of all evaluations completed and file them with the Multidisciplinary team report.
· Attend RTI/SSIT meetings per request.
· Attend all IEP/504 initial/re-evaluation meetings.
· Adhere to established rules, regulations, laws and appropriate ethical standards.
· Other duties as assigned.
What are the required qualifications?
- Approved Michigan speech-language pathologist who is certified by the Michigan Department of Education or who is fully licensed; CFY candidates welcome.
- Skills in the administration and interpretation of tests.
- Skills in Speech therapy psychological report writing.
- The capacities to interview, consult, and counsel with school personnel, parents, pupils, and others.
- The capacity to communicate findings to professionals, parent, pupils and others in a meaningful manner.
- Be committed/flexible to meeting the needs of diverse students, parents and staff.
- Have excellent time-management skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
- Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards.
- Possess the desire and willingness to develop own skill set and receive coaching
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain constructive group relationships

All classes will take place in-person next year. All students will wear masks in the building. Staff members who wish to work without masks must submit evidence of vaccination to HR.
