About the Job
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Shipping Supervisor to join our Houston team. This individual will supervise the daily operations of the department to include the accurate processing, allocating, loading and shipping of all Tuxedo merchandise for our Tuxedo rental business from the Distribution Center to retail stores. Additional responsibilities include sorting, manifesting and shipping all reservations being delivered to our hub network as well as managing the packaging and shipment of time sensitive reservations being shipped via UPS. Also, hourly and bi-hourly tracking of all reservation information, via Oracle, to ensure all assembled reservations are shipped as planned. It will also be important that you display exceptional attention to detail as well as the adaptability to adjust to workloads in the shipping environment as required. A successful candidate must be able to provide effective leadership of operational execution and planning to ensure the absolute best services to our stores.
Work Schedule

  • The hours of operation for our Distribution Centers are Monday through Sunday. As a result, flexibility with the work schedule and the ability to work any shift during the hours of operation is required. Hours of operation and schedules are subject to change and may require early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays or late night shifts.

What You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities

  • Providing leadership to a team of tuxedo staff and coaches during the day to day shipping activities on the warehouse floor as you ensure the daily workload is completed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Work closely with management and team members to ensure merchandise are processed and products are delivered in compliance with business requirements, on schedule, and within budget
  • Provide servant leadership on the warehouse floor to train, inspire, and motivate the work of hourly warehouse team members in order to achieve desired results in productivity, teamwork, safety, quality, and job knowledge
  • Communicate with management team regarding shipping issues or discrepancies
  • Track information to facilitate the flow of merchandise via Oracle
  • Ensure all tuxedo rentals are processed and shipped for that particular day’s order
  • Assist in assuring the inventory of merchandise is in the proper designated areas
  • Participate in management training exercises and attend daily department meetings
  • Suggest and recommend improvements that would further increase departmental performance
  • Ensure warehouse material handling equipment and tools are operating properly and safely so that employees are able to perform their job functions without interruption
  • Advise management of any breakdowns and maintenance needs immediately to ensure good routine preventive maintenance on all equipment
  • Assist with overseeing employee performance and provide regular coaching, communication, and feedback on production goal and expectations
  • Ensure all shipping functions and responsibilities are maintained and executed on time
  • Effective time management, conflict management, and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Provide proper follow through and maintaining a good flow of communication with management and all personnel
  • Maintain a professional and strong working relationships with team members, management, customers, and vendors while ensuring prompt and courteous customer service
  • Help maintain and promote positive employee relations and morale whenever possible by practicing good servant leadership principles in a contextual environment to promote team work at all times
  • Contribute to building and fostering a positive team spirit and support company’s goals and objectives by providing outstanding performance and customer service
  • Ensure employees attend required safety meetings and report Workers’ Compensation injuries to management immediately
  • Ensure a safe working environment in compliance with OSHA regulations
  • Complete special projects as needed and any additional duties assigned by management team

What You’ll Bring | Skills & Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required, additional education is a plus
  • Minimum of one year experience in a fast-paced, high-volume distribution center environment with strong work ethics and a high degree of excellence
  • Prior working experience in a production, distribution, and warehouse environment
  • Basic knowledge of computer skills in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook and the ability to learn proprietary programs
  • Working knowledge of Oracle reporting software
  • Prior experience in the use of warehouse material handling equipment and tools
  • Good communication and people skills are required with excellent command of the English language
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, encourage, and lead team members
  • Must have strong commitment to quality and ability to provide outstanding customer service
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to follow directions and apply problem-solving skills to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Good mathematical and counting skills required
  • Highly motivated and high initiative in providing proactive efforts in seeking solutions to problems and willingness to take on new tasks, challenges, and opportunities
  • Good organizational, analytical, multitasking, and follow-up skills
  • Must maintain a professional and positive attitude at all times with the highest level of customer service
  • Must possess good judgment and fairness when making decisions, and in coordinating and assigning work to team members
  • Must be goal oriented and task driven to meet deadlines
  • Possess a sense of urgency to work in a time sensitive, fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to work in all areas of production in Tuxedo department and other duties assigned by management

Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands

  • Continuously standing, walking, sitting, reaching and working overhead, climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, stretching, crouching, and crawling
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for grasping, reaching, pulling, and pushing
  • Frequent use of ladders and/or lift equipment
  • Frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds or more
