DIESEL TRUCK SERVICE TECHNICIAN / MECHANIC - swing shift

Cowden Gravel & Ready Mix specializes in aggregate and concrete deliveries. With a fast paced, busy, on site shop, our mechanics work on all aspects of truck repairs and maintenance. We employ mechanics of all levels of experience. Our Bellingham shop on Cedarville Road has an opening for a Diesel Truck Service Technician/Mechanic to work swing shift hours M-F, 3pm – 11:30pm with overtime available. 40-60 hours a week, overtime is paid after 40. Our swing shift mechanics primarily perform routine services and maintenance on our dump trucks and mixer trucks, this position does not require extensive experience, but does require the candidate to be mechanically inclined and experienced with brake replacements, greasing, and vehicle servicing. DIESEL TRUCK SERVICE TECH/MECHANIC JOB DUTIES OVERVIEW

• Primarily perform routine services and maintenance (lube, oil change, 6/12/36 month services) typically completed on night shift.
• Perform vehicle inspections compliant with DOT regulations and complete corresponding paperwork
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues with accuracy and in a timely manner
• Develop repair plan to ensure a complete, safe and timely repair
• Perform mechanical repairs
• Navigate electronic Parts System Database to locate and bill parts according to unit in repair
• Complete parts order request forms to include judgement calls on tagging out units
• Maintain an organized and clean work area
• Must always be safety conscious, especially when using powered equipment, maneuvering equipment/vehicles, must warn others before performing repairs that will include loud noise, sparks or fumes. Wear eye and ear protection as required.
• Complete tasks as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to read and create work orders in English
• Job specific experience (preferred)
• Knowledge of machines/tools used for vehicle repair and maintenance (diesel truck exp. a plus)
• Trade school training (preferred)
• CDL (a plus)
• Welding skills (a plus)
• Negative pre-employment drug screen
• Eligibility to work in the US
• Criminal Background screening conducted
