The Stationary SR. Battery Technician will be responsible for assisting sales in engineering jobs, estimating projects and installation of critical power systems for UPS, switchgear, and telecommunications. Is responsible to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget in accordance with IEEE and manufacturer specifications. Responsible for Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for all projects and safety toolbox meetings on site. This position will assist in training battery technicians to become Sr. Battery Technicians will represent Viking Power and requires professionalism, great attitude, effective communication skills and outstanding customer service.

1. Communicate with suppliers about warranty, sizing, safety, and maintenance issues.

2. Be able to physically remove and replace batteries, spill containment, racks and prepare spent batteries for shipment to smelter in accordance with DOT/EPA requirements.

3. Able to correctly size batteries while considering; space, temperature, maintenance, and performance.

4. Able to evaluate and recommend EHS equipment necessary to comply with EPA, DOT & OSHA in battery rooms.

5. Able to run Alber Cellcorder and Alber BCT capacity tester on batteries for evaluation.

6. Achieve FPY (First Pass Yield) by properly evaluation of projects and having all necessary tools, material, and equipment necessary to complete job on first visit.

7. Keep inventory of all inventories for a project.

8. Be able to do all charger repairs and P.M. (preventative maintenance) to chargers and battery systems.

9. Clean and neutralize batteries, as necessary.

10. Proper watering of batteries.

11. Periodic maintenance and repairs.

12. Notify supervisor of equipment not working properly.

13. Package and dispose of used acids and batteries in accordance with DOT/EPA and OSHA regulations.

Train helpers/junior techs to become Sr. Technicians.
