The real estate market is booming, and with our property portfolio rapidly scaling we are seeking a self-motivated, property accounting professional to add to our growing team. In this highly visible and dynamic position, under the direction of the Controller, you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions required to produce monthly GAAP financial statements for properties managed by Evergreen. In addition, the role will assist with corporate level accounting transactions.

The Role: This position includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Work closely with 3rd party property managers to help streamline accounting and controls.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
  • Record monthly adjusting and accrual entries in accordance with GAAP
  • Update fixed asset system for additions and disposals and record monthly depreciation / amortization
  • Prepare monthly financial statement analysis according to GAAP with variance reporting
  • Compile monthly financial statement package with required supporting documentation
  • Distribute financials to lenders/owners and assist with follow up questions/concerns
  • Assist in the annual audit and tax return preparation
  • Assist in annual budget preparation
  • Assist in the implementation of technology and systems initiatives

Qualifications and Experience: We are a new company and need someone ready, willing and excited to help build out our accounting function.

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
  • 4+ years of experience
  • Understanding of US GAAP, financial processes and internal controls
  • Experience in real estate and real-estate property level accounting is strongly preferred
  • Analytical thinking, ability to manage large volumes of transactional data
  • Accuracy and timeliness in the completion of assigned work
  • Strong work ethic
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficiency with Excel, experience with ERP systems like NetSuite
  • Adaptability in a highly dynamic working environment
  • Good problem-solving skills - able to think outside the box
