Job Title: Senior Global Payroll Tax Accountant

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports to: Director of Payroll

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

The Senior Global Payroll Tax Accountant is responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting payroll processes and procedures to ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations. Responsibilities include overseeing all required federal, state, and local payroll tax filings, researching and monitoring payroll compliance issues, being the liaison between payroll tax vendors and the Loram Payroll Department, while ensuring Compliance with tax updates and the payroll system.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Functional and Technical Skills

  • Reconciliation of payroll tax records and payment of payroll tax deposits required for federal, state, local tax filings and forms for all global entities. Serve as primary contact with payroll tax agencies to resolve discrepancies and issues
  • Reconciliation of the Company payroll-related balance sheet accounts for all global entities. Liaison to the treasury, accounting, and corporate tax departments for matters related to payroll accounting and payroll taxes
  • Stay abreast of current developments and changes to payroll accounting and payroll tax requirements for all global entities and educate the Payroll team and HR on how these changes impact processes and systems
  • Monitors and reconciles cash activity to Payroll and Tax Services provider for all global entities. Reconcile payroll accounts on a timely basis monthly to ensure accuracy
  • Play a key role in the annual payroll year-end processes. Manage other global accounting and tax payroll projects as needed. May serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on cross functional projects and strategic business priorities within payroll and related functions such as Accounting, IT, HR, etc

Strategic and Functional

  • Plan, test and implement upgrades and enhancements to the payroll tax filing system and the tax and regulatory updates for the human resources/payroll system; coordinate with vendors to explain requirements and resolve issues. Perform setup and testing for the general ledger distribution for ERP upgrades/implementation
  • Research and interpret payroll accounting and tax issues to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; advise payroll and HR regarding payroll and tax requirements related to executive compensation, expatriate and foreign employee taxation, fringe benefits, and other non-wage compensation, payroll tax registrations, nexus, and mergers, for all global entities
  • Develop, document, update and validate standard operating procedures within the payroll. Identify, communicate, and help implement process improvements to the payroll team activities to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and incorporate best practices

Compliance

  • Manage the corporation's global payroll tax compliance, in adherence to federal, state, and local laws
  • Ensures accurate and timely filing of weekly, semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly, and annual returns of taxes withheld for all taxing authorities
  • Balances and files annual reconciliation withholding return with local, state, and federal authorities for W-2 purposes or the equivalent in foreign countries. Ensures the timely issuance and distribution of all W-2 forms or equivalent tax forms in foreign countries

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business

Experience:

  • 8+Years' experience, related to payroll tax accounting.
  • 8+Years' of corporate accounting/finance

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and procedures and experience with payroll tax filings.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; ability to identify key causes and workable solutions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer software skills to extract and analyze information.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Teams
  • 12+Years' or equivalent combination of education and experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 5+Years international assignment tax experience
  • 3+Years' experience working with one of the big 4 accounting firms
  • Ceridian payroll a plus

Flex Work Eligible: This position qualifies for the Flexible Work Policy. Employees receive 50 work days annually to work remote. The initial amount of days is prorated for the first year based on start date.
