Computer Technician II
Reports to: Director of Technology
Location: Technology
Bargaining Unit: Full-Time Teamsters
LSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary:
The Computer Technician II works with a small IT team to install, maintain, and troubleshoot district technology. This position is part of a team that ensures that building infrastructure, classroom technology, and student services remain functional, up-to-date, and efficiently managed.
Required Qualifications:
- Associates’ degree with a technology focus or 2 years of technical schooling
- 3 or more years successful experience working in a technology related field
- Knowledge and experience working in Google Active Directory
- Knowledge and experience with supporting Microsoft operating systems
- Knowledge and experience with Exchange, Cloud, Active directory, and server infrastructure
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, possess awareness (for self and others), listen actively, be patient, incorporate humor/lightheartedness into work, be empathic, and be customer-service oriented
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and occasionally with students and community members
- Demonstrated ability to act independently, responsibility, and efficiently with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment
- Ability to problem solve, admit when wrong, and work with a team to efficiently resolve issues
- Ability to support the District’s vision, mission, goals and Culture Code
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations
Preferred (Not Required) Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent
- Knowledge and experience in Google Active Directory
- Experience in a K-12 school district
- Knowledge and experience with Layer 3 switching and routing
- MCSA, CCNP, CCMA, Meraki certificate(s)
Essential Functions:
- Performs computer and technology equipment moves, adds, and changes
- Diagnoses and resolves computer-related hardware and software problems
- Utilizes a ticket system to communicate and problem-solve computer or technology related problems
- Maintains software licensing agreements and monitor compliance
- Installs and configures system, network, and application software
- Implements security options and software on computers and network equipment
- Configures computer-related hardware for various issues (mobile labs, stand-alone, LAN/WAN equipment)
- Assists with setup and maintenance of telephone equipment
- Assists staff in learning to use applications on a variety of platforms
- Assists with a variety of IT projects
- Maintains an interest in the evolution of educational technology and continue to participate in professional development
- Attend trainings and meetings as appropriate or directed
- Other duties as assigned
Salary: $34.14 - $39.58, depending on experience
Work Schedule: 7:30-4:30, M-F,8 hours per day, 260 days per year
