Jefferson Council on Aging - Senior Center Clerk
Purpose
Answer inquiries and provide information to the general public, customers, visitors, and other interested parties regarding activities conducted at establishment and location of departments, offices, and employees within the organization. The clerk works four hours a day, Monday through Friday, and does not receive benefits.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge - Minimal Qualifications:
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.

Work Context
Work Setting
- Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions
- Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people
Tasks
- Operate telephone switchboard to answer, screen, or forward calls, providing information, taking messages, or scheduling appointments.
- Greet persons entering establishment, determine nature and purpose of visit, and direct or escort them to specific destinations.
- Assist clients by completing forms, questionnaires; i.e., Medicare, Medicate, insurance claims, applications for membership and services.
- Maintain client confidentiality.
- Hear and resolve complaints from customers or the public.
- File and maintain records.
- Perform duties of the Coordinator as needed
- Provide other center-related duties as assigned by the Coordinator. This may include substituting as a Site Manager.
- File documents or records.
- Prepare business correspondence.
- Send information, materials or documentation.

Pay: $9.00 - $9.50 per hour
