Ukrop's Homestyle Foods is seeking to hire Sanitation Associates (Manufacturing Specialist I) at our Fresh Kitchen located at 600A Southlake Boulevard, Richmond, Virginia 23236. Various 1st shift positions available, includes weekends with occasional overtime and holiday shifts required during holiday peaks.

Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Specialist I in the Sanitation Department is a full-time, entry-level position that performs a variety of basic duties associated with equipment and supply cleaning and sanitation processes, to ensure compliance with regulatory food safety and environmental laws are met. Successful candidates, must be able to work a flexible schedule and work the posted schedule. Must be a team player and self-motivated, ability to effectively communicate with supervisors and coworkers, and knowledgeable in the principles of sanitation and Food safety.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all sanitation, equipment and facility cleaning, programs and documentation are met according to guidelines
  • Perform housekeeping and cleaning of facility restrooms, break rooms and common areas
  • Work in conjunction with other associates in cleaning equipment, removal of condensation and foaming and sanitizing of departments
  • Ability to disassemble and assemble equipment for cleaning
  • Work in wet and warm environment utilizing industrial dishwashing equipment
  • Handle and apply cleaning and sanitizing chemicals safely
  • Follow cleaning and sanitizing procedures
  • Maintain sanitation equipment in a clean and organized manner
  • Supports GFSI and FSMA. Assists in ensuring that the SQF system is in place and that we follow all aspects of HACCP plan, SSOPs, and GMPs throughout the plant. Reports all food safety issues to an immediate supervisor
  • Supports an accident-free work culture. When developing, or modifying production processes, assists in accident prevention and risk identification. Collaborates with HR/Safety Manager to minimize risk exposure from ingredient, equipment, or ergonomics

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Six to twelve (6-12) months of food or manufacturing experience is preferred

Minimum Physical Requirements:

  • The position responsibilities frequently require:
    • Reading, comprehending, and following verbal and written instructions
    • Performing basic arithmetic to execute duties described above (measuring, follow recipes)
  • The physical demands of the position frequently include:
    • Standing and/or walking for a minimum of four hours
    • Repetitive bending, reaching, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting product weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Exposure to variations in warm and humid temperature caused by equipment
