The Sales Representative role is based in Pittsburgh, PA and reports directly to the Technical Services Manager.

The incumbent will be responsible for assuring maximum profitability and market share growth in the market through increased volume and developing new customers. Other duties require the employee to develop a strong liaison linking our customers, cement industry associations, State Highway Administrations, and Lehigh manufacturing operations to each other with regard to product quality and performance.
- Ensures compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, and with company policies and procedures
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage large territory including technical, logistical, and credit issues
- Learn the technical aspects of cement and concrete and support customers in mix design and job site issues
- Analyze market and provide timely forecasts, budgets, and planning strategy to sales management upon request
- Ensure a commitment and continued compliance with all Group and Company antitrust and competition laws and policies, including the Code of Business Conduct, through personal example, regular training, and periodic review of sales transactions
- Perform all job duties in a manner promoting good health and safety practices. Participate in effectively pricing existing and prospective customers and perform a complete follow-up. Obtain customer and project information, such as tender date, project location, schedules, bidders, volumes, etc.
- Review concrete specifications with QC Manager and prepare mix design requests. Provide support to QC by sampling concrete on site, do air and slump test, prepare cylinders, and pick up these cylinders the next day and bring to the laboratory. Follow pricing structure established by Sales Manager and current market conditions by way of written or verbal quotations
- Participate in evaluating current market and project conditions. Assist in compiling customer and competitor backlogs. Assess and summarize all current job progress as well as upcoming projects. Assist Sales Manager in estimating and reporting competitor prices and market share
- Implement Company procedures and policies established by Sales Department, quality control, and operations, accounts receivables and payables. Submit a sales report of daily activities, pricing, tender closings, etc.
- Monitor customer’s loyalties and satisfaction and attract new customers. Ensure problems encountered are solved without delay and with fairness
- Regularly meet with customers to strengthen rapport and to address concerns. Regular site visit to monitor project needs, schedule pre-pour meetings, recommend value-added products when the opportunity comes
- Participate in marketing associations. Participate in the state Ready Mix Concrete Association, local Builders Association, and American Concrete Institute (ACI), etc
- Participate in Sales meetings, Monthly staff meetings, Seminars, Sales training and any misc. training and/or meetings related to Sales position
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Post high school education in engineering, architecture, and concrete technologies, general contracting, and estimating
- General knowledge of concrete and other cement based products
- Proven experience in varying aspects of customer relations (sales, negotiations, quality control, and design)
- Knowledge of WV DOT regulations preferred
- Solid computer skills including MS Office, SAP, Web Based Communication, and Social Media
- Proven written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present sales and technical information to a group
- Understanding of sales, pricing and prospecting customers
- Understanding of quality control processes; prepare mix designs and sampling
- Willingness and ability to travel overnight including weekends within and outside of the sales territory
- Attend Sales meetings, training and any misc. training or meeting that is Sales related
- Self-Motivated / High-Energy and able to work proactively with minimal direct supervision
- Ability to stand, stoop, bend, walk, lift, and climb on occasion at Lehigh and customer location
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Role operates primarily a professional office environment; but requires conducting business at manufacturing locations and job sites where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels
