Safety and Environmental Coordinator Job at AccuForce
Position Summary: Assist with the development, implementation and sustainability of safety related policies. Assist with promoting safety awareness and cultivate the safety culture throughout the location by actively communicating with all levels of employees in their work areas. Assist with the planning, coordination, and administration of training programs in occupational safety and health as it relates to accident prevention and loss control.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITY
- Assist with implementing, sustaining and usage of the 29 Safety Action Items as a guideline to support the Incorporated Safety Philosophy.
- Assist with safety program performance measured by key metrics and communicate to senior management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the design and development of safety policies, practices and procedures to prevent work related accidents and injuries.
- Interacts with all levels of employees at their work area to actively promote safety and the safety philosophy throughout the facility.
- Partners with management to set performance expectations and safety goals. Suggests and communicates strategies and information to leaders and managers.
- Assist with planning, promoting, organizing, and directing of job safety analyses, hazard analyses and related activities.
- Ensures sustainment of program procedures and advises management on problem correction.
- Assist with the development and implementation of action plans based on audit or accident investigation findings.
- Assures completion of all Certified Safe Associate Training as required by the 29 Action Items.
- Drives the development of plans to achieve short and long-term safety and improvement goals.
- Analyzes incident trends to identify training deficiencies, behavioral issues, or other opportunities for workflow improvements.
- Advises and trains in OSHA and other regulatory requirements and Safety Program essentials.
- Assist the EHS Manager with the implementation of programs to comply with local, state and federal regulatory requirements by understanding compliance and permitting requirements for OSHA, EPA, ADEM etc.
- Assist the EHS Manager with safety/risk management programs, i.e. solid waste, hazardous waste, universal waste, storm water, fire and security programs.
- Assist the EHS Manager with the Safety Review Board for the location
- Assist with maintaining documentation of safety procedures, accidents and related events.
- Participate and lead accident investigations to determine root cause.
- Develop and implement action plans based on audit or accident investigation findings.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Takes a hands-on approach to safety. Duties of the job require employee to walk through the facility, reach with hands, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The noise level of the work environment is usually moderate and requires use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Hands on individual who proactively connects with people to promote safe working behaviors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, EHS or related field is required.
- 1-3 years’ experience as a safety professional in a mid to large size manufacturing organization required, 3-5 years is preferred.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) a plus.
- Experience working in Human Resources in a manufacturing environment.
- Very good interpersonal skills

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
