DESCRIPTION

The new to specialty NICU RN will train and orient to care for critically ill neonate patients in the level III Neonatal ICU at Jacobs Medical Center as well as the level II Neonatal ICU at Hillcrest Medical Center.

Nurses who apply must be committed to professional development, who promote compliance and support of policies. Participation in unit-based shared governance activities expected. Ability to achieve trust in professional relationships and must possess excellent communication skills. Must be able to work within a busy team environment. Will float according to skill set and minimally to the Postpartum unit (postpartum consists of couplet care and NICU nurse is responsible for infant care when floating unless qualified in couplet care). A demonstrated spirit of divisional collegiality and teamwork is expected. This is a night shift 90% position with some orientation on the day shift to complete training. Emphasis on professionalism, skill development and teamwork with best patient outcomes and satisfaction for both patients and staff.

This position is required to work at both Jacobs Medical Center and Hillcrest Medical Center.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

  • RN License issued by the State of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months of hire date.

  • Current NRP Certification.

  • Minimum two years of acute care RN experience OR a minimum of six months NICU RN experience.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, and to quickly assess moderately-complex problems to develop potential solutions.

  • Strong professionalism and written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, patients and families, and peers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSN.
  • Current NRP Advanced certification.
  • Three or more years of acute care RN experience.
  • Previous NICU RN experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Leadership and quality improvement experience.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $116,886 - $163,825 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $55.98 - $78.46

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
