Research Assistant in Microbiome, Immunology, Gut-Brain axis and Cancer: Job opportunity

The laboratory applies translational, experimental and computational approaches to study the role of immunity to mycobiota early and later in life, upon therapeutic interventions and during conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease, allergy, gastrointestinal and lung cancers, and immunodeficiencies, where fungi contribute to pathologies. Current effort in the laboratory, focused on the gut-bran axis, explores the unique neuro-modulatory properties of fungi and bacteria.

Position Description

We are looking for a highly motivated, independent but team-oriented research technician with expertise in molecular biology (PCR, microbial DNA isolation, Sequencing library preparation) or/and immunology-related experimental methods, basic microbiology techniques and in vivo disease modeling. Candidates with computational skills are also welcome to apply.

Job Duties:

· Assist in performing in vitro and in vivo experiments designed by the PI and lab members;

· Perform several basic microbiology and molecular biology techniques;

· Perform cell culturing;

· Handling bacterial and fungal cultures;

· Assist in day-to-day ordering of laboratory reagents;

· Work in a team with a Postdoc and a graduate student;

· Carry out procedures associated with DNA sequencing on the Illumina sequencing platform, including DNA library preparation, sample quantification & preparation

Position Requirements:

· Strong knowledge in experimental biology, molecular biology or immunology;

· General laboratory and organizational skills, including the ability to work independently and efficiently;

· Demonstrated contributions to original research project;

· Ability to multitask, along with an orientation toward teamwork and cooperation;

· Good communication skills required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38,400.00 - $58,000.00 per year
