The position is for a Research Assistant (RA) in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University and Bradley Hospital working primarily with Anastacia Kudinova�s Ph.D. research team: https://sites.brown.edu/youthselflab/. This research position coordinates a number of projects conducting multi-method studies of bio-behavioral mechanisms involved in suicide risk in youth. This position provides full time research assistance with (i) participant recruitment and scheduling (ii) conducting clinical sleep and circadian timing and neuroimaging (fMRI) assessments; (iii) data management; and (iv) lab management assistance. These projects are part of the Adolescent Mental Health Collaborative that aims to improve the mental health of youth through coordinated research treatment and training: https://sites.brown.edu/AMHC.
Responsibilities:
Review medical charts and referrals and coordinate with clinicians to identify and recruit participants. Make recruitment phone calls and administer phone screen interviews to potential participants.
Conduct clinical assessments with child adolescent and adult participants including the collection of questionnaire data brief neuropsychological assessments clinical assessments/interviews remote Dim Light Melatonin Onset (DLMO) tests and neuroimaging data (fMRI).
Maintain IRB protocols and support communication with Lifespan IRB
Assist in the collection management processing and analysis of data from the above research assessments.
Keep a flexible schedule to accommodate schedules of both research participants and research facilities including morning evening and weekend availability.
Perform other lab management duties as assigned.
Observe all hospital policies rules and regulations.

EDUCATIONAL/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Bachelors Degree in Psychology Neuroscience Sociology or other related field.
Minimum of one year of experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required (can be unpaid experience). Working knowledge of research methodology (e.g. DLMO neuroimaging data preprocessing) is preferred.
Ability to work flexible hours is required including routinely working evenings and occasional late evenings and weekends due to availability of participating families and nature of assessments (e.g. DLMO tests).
Ability to interact skillfully with clinical populations (both adolescents and adults).
Must have excellent organizational skills attention to detail interpersonal skills and ability to prioritize among multiple tasks.
Experience with data capture software (REDCap) and statistical software (e.g. R SPSS) is preferred.
INDEPENDENT ACTION:
Performs independently within department policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to supervisor where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
None.

The RA selected for this position will be provided with a significant amount of high-quality training in administering clinical and behavioral assessments and assisting with MRI scans. As such the optimal candidate will be receptive to feedback on their performance throughout the duration of the position. These skills will be valuable to any candidate who wishes to pursue a career and/or advanced study in a mental health-related field. Due to the nature of the position the RA will be trusted with responsibility for facilitating the ongoing research with integrity and in accordance with established scientific protocol. This position requires a skilled individual to recruit enroll assess and retain a population of children and adolescents who might be struggling with mental health symptoms and their parents. This might be challenging at times and requires clinical interpersonal and communication skills to handle sensitive topics. Flexibility integrity conscientiousness and commitment to the program's goals and objectives are essential.
