Remote Medical Assistant - LGBTQ Care Job at FOLX Health
As a Remote/Flex Medical Assistant, your role is to support our clinical team of RNs, NPs, PAs, and MDs in providing excellent member care through providing direct education, counseling, and clinical care to members.

Note: This position is scheduled to work every weekend (Saturdays and Sundays) and three weekdays to be determined. Hours are flexible.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage incoming message inbox in EMR, direct messages to appropriate recipients, answer questions as allowed by scope of practice.
- Update and fill out patient medical records including documenting medical history
- Schedule appointments with clinicians and RN’s
- Assist clinicians by occasionally meeting with members to provide education on the basics of how FOLX works
- Collaborate with clinicians and support team to arrange laboratory services, respond to medical requests by members and outside entities
- Code and fill out insurance forms, manages prior authorizations
- Collaborate with the Member support and clinicians to complete any forms or paperwork deemed necessary by members, schools, or healthcare entities.
- Provide any support required by the clinicians or nurses, while functioning within the role of the medical assistant, in order to ensure optimal member care
- Support and participate in Quality Assurance activities
Other specific duties:
- Create member education materials (library articles, etc.)
- Contact members about outstanding/follow up labs, follows up with Laboratory vendors
- Send refill surveys to members
- Other duties outlined by the American Association of Medical Assistants
- Maintenance of active CMA

- Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with a wide variety of patients and coworkers

- Desire to make sure all questions from a patient are answered completely, and patient is linked with appropriate resources and referrals if beyond our scope
- Excellent decision-making skills and communication
- Great organizational and time management skills that allow for timely completion of tasks and patient follow-up, especially important in a remote work environment
- Demonstrated experience in working with diverse groups, including diversity in race, ethnicity, economic status, and educational background.
Requirement for the role:
- Active CMA from the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
Salary: $60,000
