Provides comprehensive, high-level administrative assistance and office management to the Environmental Resource Bureau, with latitude for exercising discretion, judgement, and confidentiality. Responsibilities include coordination with local government and State agencies, other Bureaus within the Division, and other Divisions within the District. The position requires general knowledge of the District's regulatory program and operations. Work is performed in a teamwork based and deadline-oriented environment under a Section Administrator and in collaboration with other administrative staff throughout the ERB.

The position will be located at the Okeechobee Service Center.

The position requires knowledge of and experience in the following:

  • SAP: timesheet, purchasing, and inventory;

  • Administrative aspects of the Environmental Resource and Works of the District Permitting programs;

  • Project coordination;

  • Credible written and oral communication with stakeholders;

  • General office methods and practices;

  • Training administrative staff

  • Coordination of major office activities, such as staff training and public meetings;

  • Making travel and meeting arrangements;

  • Implementing financial policy as determined by ERB leadership;

  • Conducting research and creating presentations;

  • Microsoft Office software applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);

  • Web-based research and information collection;

  • Process and input data for Works of the District program;

  • Compile and distribute an annual water quality and quantity report to permittees within the Everglades Agricultural Area;

  • Pega and Oracle software

The selected applicant must be able to:

  • Problem solve based on comprehensive knowledge of technical and stakeholder issues;

  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion to the degree appropriate for the situation;

  • Schedule and manage time to meet strict deadlines;

  • Complete projects and perform tasks independently with minimal direction and guidance based on instructions given regarding generally expected results and objectives;

  • Be responsible for maintaining close communication with their direct supervisor on various issues and matters, including the status of deliverables and assignments;

  • Work well with all levels of internal management, staff, and external customers;

  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills

Employment Guidelines:

  • Education: Typically has an Associate Degree in Business and Office Administration or related field; or completion of a vocational certificate program in office administration.

  • Experience: 8+ years of highly competent experience in progressively responsible administrative support work.

Licensure:
  • All candidates must have a valid State of Florida Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements/ Working Environment:

  • Able to lift at least 40 pounds.

  • Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.
