Job Description Summary
Under general supervision, Plan and coordinate activities for afterschool programs and summer camp. Job Responsibilities
Plan and conduct recreational activities primarily children in the afterschool programs and summer camps
Prepare facility for planned events - includes cleaning
Ensure facility is maintained and safe procedures are followed
Monitor afterschool programs and summer camp activities
Order and maintain equipment and supplies programs
Perform clerical duties
Answer inquiries on upcoming events
Train volunteers to conduct events and safety procedures
Complete reports for injury, accidents and other incidents Performance Measurement
Knowledge of Job:
Has thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures and policies of the Recreation Divisions of the Parks and Recreation Department as they pertain to the performance of duties of the Recreation Leader. Has knowledge of the organization of the Department and of related departments and agencies. Has knowledge of the laws, ordinances, standards, and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position. Has knowledge in the areas of recreation I sports programming and event planning, community relations, etc. Has knowledge of administrative principles involved in planning, coordinating, and implementing various programs and related activities. Is able to offer assistance to co-workers, volunteers, co workers and employees of other departments as required. Is able to take the initiative to complete the duties of the position without the need of direct supervision. Is able to plan, organize, and prioritize daily assignments and work activities. Is able to learn and utilize new skills and information to improve job performance and efficiency. Is able to read and interpret various materials pertaining to the responsibilities of the job. Is able to prepare required reports with accuracy and in a timely manner. Has knowledge of the terminology and various professional languages used within the department. Has knowledge of how to maintain effective relationships with personnel of other departments, professionals and members of the public through contact and cooperation. Is able to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies, the general public, and all other internal and external customers. Personally demonstrates appropriate customer service skills. Has knowledge of proper English usage, vocabulary, spelling, and basic mathematics. Has knowledge of modern office practices and technology. Has knowledge of applicable occupational hazards and safety precautions. Is able to perform duties effectively despite infrequent exposure to extreme heat and cold, odors, machinery hazards, etc. Has knowledge of how to react calmly and quickly in emergency situations.

Maintains high standards of accuracy in exercising duties and responsibilities. Exercises immediate remedial action to correct any quality deficiencies that occur in areas of responsibility. Maintains high quality communication and interacts with all City departments and divisions, co-workers, and the general public.

Minimum Education and Training - High School Diploma/GED; Prefer experience in recreational programs and activities; Must be at least 18 years old; or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must obtain defensive driving training, basic first aid & CPR training, fire extinguisher training, AED training and Bloodborne Pathogens Training certificates Must possess a valid state issued driver"s license. Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machines such as sports equipment, various tools, etc. Must be physically able to exert up to twenty pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
