Tesla is looking for exceptional manufacturing leaders to join the Powertrain Quality team. We have an exciting opening for an Associate Quality Manager. The Associate Manager will be responsible for managing, inspiring and developing a team made up of Supervisors and Technicians. The Associate Manager provides hands-on support, leadership, and direction to their direct reports to ensure only the highest quality products. They exhibit analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail. They work closely with the Quality Engineering team to ensure only the best products are manufactured for our customers. The ideal candidate is actively hands-on, takes pride in building the best products, and quick to react to dynamic challenges.
What You’ll Do
  • Develop & maintain standard work Instructions used in production by the Quality Technicians.
  • Support the development of Process Failure Modes Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify critical risks in the production processes with the Manufacturing Quality Engineers.
  • Develop training programs and hiring plans for Quality Technicians ahead of aggressive product roadmaps.
  • Support execution of control plans to ensure critical features are controlled through the production process.
  • Manage and develop Supervisors and Technicians in the Fremont Powertrain Quality org structure.
  • Develop KPI’s and commit to improvement roadmaps that ensure Tesla’s industry lead in delivering a world class powertrain.
  • Support issue resolution including root cause investigation & corrective action tracking. Must be technically fluent to drive strong engineering countermeasures.
  • Ensure quality standards are met throughout the entire production process and support zero defects from leaving a station or team area
  • Prompt and decisive action regarding containment activities to minimize impact to downstream customers.
  • Work cross functionally between all shops within the Fremont site and ensure that any risk from the shop is contained and effectively communicated.
  • Develop leaders throughout the Quality Team, to empower people to fix problems and reduce operational inefficiencies.
What You’ll Bring
  • Experience and thorough knowledge of production systems and processes.
  • Experience hiring, developing, and managing teams of people in a production environment.
  • Experience in new product development and launch activities.
  • Experience with a broad variety of measurement and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to work with and develop quality performance metrics (Containment Rates, Fault Injection Processes, Flow Charts).
  • Strong analytical, data driven problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
  • Remain engaged, proactive and positive in tough circumstances, owning assignments and taking full accountability for their success.
