Responsibilities:

  • Inspect weld seams and steel production work steps together with NDE staff or independently (visual) at all positions of production at contractor workshops.
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment, such as micrometers and gauges to perform non-destructive testing of steel products
  • Document inspection and quality assurance results and maintain accurate records of inspection findings.
  • Identify and report any defects or non-conformities in steel products
  • Communicate quality assurance and quality control results to project managers, engineers, and other team members.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.

  • Reading and interpretation of drawings and verifying casting specifications by use of measurement equipment (i.e. digital calipers, tape measure, thickness gauge, depth gauge, etc.)
  • Maintaining shop equipment and related welding / fabrication tools

Requirements:

  • Preferred knowledge of Offshore Wind work and standards
  • Welding certification, AWS Preferred
  • GTAW and/or TIG Certification and experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical education or certification in welding, steel inspection, quality assurance/control is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in welding/ steel quality assurance and quality control or related field.
  • Strong understanding of steel manufacturing and welding processes and relevant standards and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify defects or non-conformities in welding and steel products.
  • Familiarity with a variety of inspection tools and equipment, including non-destructive testing equipment.
  • Basic knowledge in English, additional languages are welcomed
  • Certified by American Welding Society, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, or other similar group
  • Ability to prioritize work in order to complete deadlines
  • Ability to work timely and expeditiously to deliver an on-time result without errors
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing quality assurance and quality control programs and procedures.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to travel to multiple job sites/port sides in Maryland, Rhode Island, and New York
  • At the end of 90 Calendar days the candidate must be able to maintain an acceptable level of production, quality and attendance as determined by Management
