Syntegon Technology in the Minneapolis area specializes in the pharmaceutical industry. Complete packaging solutions are provided for parenteral drugs, ophthalmics, animal health products, vitamins, and nutritional supplements. Products include vial, capsule, syringe, and powder filling; isolation technology, and cartoning.

SUMMARY: Participate in and oversee the planning and administration of procurement activities including purchasing, supplier selection and evaluation, and procedure development. Maintain and develop a workforce capable of achieving company requirements/objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop, supervise and maintain department in order to achieve company objectives.
• Review / maintain budget for department.
• Supervise / initiate the negotiation of purchasing contracts, follow-up and expediting of deliveries.
• Utilize SAP to procure company products and services while optimizing quality, delivery and price in the U.S. and internationally. Procurement includes, but is not limited to MRO, raw materials, mechanical and electrical supplies and outside manufacturing services.
• Review and approve all purchase orders greater than $10K.
• Source, obtain quotations and negotiate with suppliers on terms, conditions, price and delivery on items.
• Evaluate supplier quality and delivery performance to meet internal and external customer requirements and initiate corrective actions, as needed.
• Provide requested or necessary product and vendor information to appropriate departments.
• Monitor department and individual buyer performance to meet internal expectations, including Purchase Price Variances (PPV).
• Develop and document procedures, controls and purchasing policies to meet company policies.
• Maintain accurate purchasing SAP data including purchase orders, info records, supplier information, lead times, etc.
• Coordinate and make the necessary arrangements for processing discrepant supplied items and materials and makes the proper disposition for rejected items. Issue replacement purchase orders as required on returned items and materials.
• Monitor and communicate price trends in basic materials and supplies.
• Act as Data Security Partner for the Purchasing Department.
• Compile and report on all requested information to Corporate Purchasing – domestic and international.
• Maintain and promote a safe work environment through training, monitoring workplace for hazards and open communication with employees and Safety Committee regarding related concerns and improvement ideas.
• Lead the department in efforts for Continuous Improvement of processes.
• Support Central Purchasing Hub on strategic initiatives in North America.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

• 2-4 year degree in Business and/or Manufacturing or 5 years experience in procurement, inventory management, in lieu of education
• Previous supervisory/lead experience
• Experience in manufacturing environment
