WDFW manages more than one million acres of owned and controlled lands including hatcheries, shellfish beds, wildlife areas, and public fishing access areas.

Coordinate real estate services and activities within Region 1 while providing technical assistance to regional personnel and the public!

With that in mind,

Picture yourself reviewing and providing timely responses (approval or denial) to requests for permits, rights of entry, and agreements allowing temporary use of department lands.

This is an opportunity to investigate, negotiate, and assist with resolution of complex property rights issues with landowners such as boundary line disputes, easements and/or trespass issues.

You thrive on building collaboration and teamwork, participate in Region Management Team and District Management Team meetings representing Real Estate Services and sharing issues with Olympia staff as necessary.

Our Eastern Region 1 Lands Agent,

Receives and evaluates requests for the use of WDFW land for Region 1:

  • Receive, review and coordinate with Olympia staff in processing requests for long-term use of department property such as leases, easements, or other documents.
  • Participate in process required for restoration projects on department property within Region 1 to ensure that they are consistent with WDFW’s mission, collaboratively developed and well managed.

Provide property management expertise and leadership to region staff in accordance with real estate policies and procedures and applicable state and federal laws:

  • Evaluate and respond to requests for real property use from all Region Programs.
  • Utilize Land Information System (LIS) system to research inquiries related to DFW land ownership documents or fund sources.

Manage real estate transactions within Region 1 involving acquisitions, exchanges, conversions, and/or property dispositions:

  • Negotiate real estate transactions (acquisitions, etc.) with other entities as a representative of the agency - investigate, negotiate, and resolve complex transactions with landowners for use of real property and property rights.
  • Assist Olympia staff in conducting due diligence such as title reviews, drafting appraisal scopes of work, preparing draft documents and/or tracking progress on meeting timelines.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work Setting, including hazards:
    • 85% of time work is performed in an office setting conducting general property management and coordination activities involving the review or creation of documents.
    • Option for remote work may be available.
  • Schedule:
    • 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Monday – Friday.
  • Travel Requirements:
    • Up to 15% of time may be in travel or over-night status.
  • Tools and Equipment:
    • Standard office equipment, vehicles, etc.
  • Customer Interactions:
    • Attending meetings, responding to phone calls and emails.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Closely related qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-by-year basis.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, real estate, natural resource management, or a closely allied field.

AND

  • Three (3) years of professional experience in property management, real property appraising, selling, leasing, or purchasing real estate including negotiating with landowners.

OR

  • One (1) year of experience as a Property and Acquisition Specialist 3.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • A Valid Driver’s License.

Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:

  • Licensed real estate agents and/or brokers in the state of Washington will be required to place their license on hold within 30 days of employment. 30-day timeline may be negotiated prior to and/or upon employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of software.
  • Project management experience demonstrating ability to effectively prioritize multiple issues/tasks.

Knowledge of:

  • Appraisal processes and requirements.
  • Title research and escrow procedures.
  • Grant application procedures and funding restriction.

Ability to:

  • Effectively present ideas and concepts with a variety of customers.
  • Read and interpret maps, surveys, and legal descriptions.
